FUNKY FRANKWELL – SHREWSBURY’S UNDISCOVERED GEM
Frankwell or “Funky Frankwell” as it is often referred to is a vibrant, bustling area on the north side of the Welsh Bridge in Shrewsbury. The area is gloriously down at heel, deprived of funding and support and decidedly off the tourist map, but businesses there have developed a fierce sense of independence and a valid claim to be Shrewsbury’s Cool Creative Quarter.
Within the space of a couple of hundred yards, thriving design companies such as Source Design and media outfits like Helter Skelter Studios rub shoulders with restaurants such as The Olive Tree, Beorn and newcomer La Mer Rouge. Traditional pubs like the Wheatsheaf host music events to rival newcomer Severn Social, their Street Food Festivals and club nights. Coffee houses like the Pour House morph into trendy bars as night falls and creative artists as diverse as Life and Death Tattoos, The Shrewsbury Framing Studio and Frankwell Barbers mix it up with cycle specialists Ride DMC and Trailhead.
We live and work in the district and we’re putting our money where our mouth is by creating a series of 360° panoramas showcasing the hidden gems in the area between Frankwell Island and the Welsh Bridge. The series is attracting a lot of attention on Social Media, one post featuring the Olive Tree restaurant amassing 5.5 thousand hits in the space of a few hours.
The images, are made up of multiple overlapping frames stitched together digitally and enabling the viewer to move the picture up and down, from side to side through a complete 360° sphere of interest. The experience is quite unlike any other form of media, the immersive, multi dimensional aspect placing the viewer right in the centre of the action and giving them total control of their point of view.
The technology we use gives results far superior in terms of resolution and accuracy to off the shelf solutions and the results speak for themselves. Most people’s reaction is “Oh Wow!”
Between now and the end of August, We are offering free inclusion in the project to any business operating in the Frankwell area.
This is a great opportunity for us to help promote local businesses and the area we all love. We want to put Frankwell on the map where it belongs and bring people across the bridge to enjoy the “Funky Frankwell” experience for themselves.”
If you are a business operating in the Frankwell area, check out the images we’ve already done and get in touch with Chris on 01743 231 416 to schedule your shoot.
